Priya’s fight is every woman’s struggle

The protagonist, Priya Pradhan is an exception and wants to fight back, as she has already faced a lot of trauma in her life. At the beginning, she was an outgoing, sociable, friendly and communicative person, but a terrible incident brought a transformation in her personality and she became reserved, guarded in her approach and frantic at the mere touch of a man.

We spoke to Priya Pradhan played by Riddhi Dogra

Tell us about Priya Pradhan as a person?

I am a small town girl who stays in at Gaziabad, who believes in hard work and always supports the truth. This is something that I have learned from my father. At the same time, I have gone through a lot of trauma which has completely shaken my life. But I am steadily learning how to fight and very soon I will be back to normal and whatever happens I won’t leave the side of truth.”

What’s your take on new trend of highlighting social issues in show?

There is no particular trend that we are taking up. As an actor, I am very fortunate to take up this show. Every episode will make us realise what’s happening in our society.”

 
What’s your take on the struggles faced by small town girls?

There are many ladies from small town in Punjab and Haryana who are independent and not bother about male-dominated society and they travel on a daily basis from the village to city. Transport in cities like Gaziabad and other adjoining areas are not suitable for grown up girl to travel. I am sure all those ladies will relate to me and will support me in my struggle.”

What’s the USP OF Maryaada....?

“The concept and the four leading characters –Priya, Devyani, Uttara and Divya is the main USP. You should also watch out for actors like Indrani Halder, Rakesh Vashisht and Kamya Punjabi who do their work sincerely. The major point is when all the four ladies meet and open up against dominating male society and that’s the reason for its bold family drama.”

What’s do you want to say about Aditya?

“He is very hard working but at same he is helping me to get me out of the trauma and slowly and gradually we would be heading into a sweet relationship.”
