The Chhote Ustaads re-live the 35 glorious years of Sholay in this week’s “Sholay Special” episode. Omi dressed as Gabbar and Aabhaas as Sambha paid a tribute to Bollywood’s biggest blockbuster. Jai, Veeru, Basanti and Thakur all the characters of Sholay were portrayed by our very own Chhote Ustaads. Read on to find out what's in store. |

To add some more spice to this already existing drama, we have Dharmendra as Veeru, Asrani as Jailor, Viju Khote as Kaaliya and the very talented Ramesh Sippy to bring alive the magic of Sholay. The Ustaads will be seen singing evergereen songs like Mehbooba O Mehbooba, Jab Tak hai Jaan, Yeh Dosti and Koi Haseena Jab. The famous dialogues of the film were re-lived by the famous characters from the film.
Dharmendra puts forward the proposal of Sholay-II to Ramesh Sippy
He expresses his wish of working on Sholay-II and says that he has started writing for quite some time and is working on a script too. If Ramesh Sippy would agree to direct, he would sit on a script meeting with him. He said Jai and Veeru of this Sholay will be played by Sunny and Bobby.
Sonu says Dharam is Garam
Sonu Niigaam praises Dharmendra and calls him a legend. He also points out that Daharam ji is the one who pioneered fitness in the country and that’s the reason people have given him names like “Garam Dharam” and “He Man”. Dharmendra also said that while they were shooting for Sholay, once he walked overnight for about 50 kilometers from Bangalore to Mysore in order to quit drinking. Dharmendra revealed his first meeting with Sonu on the sets of “Betaab” where he was a child actor. He played the role of Chhota Sunny Deol in the film.
Rahat is an ardent fan of Dharamendra
Rahat confesses to being a huge Dharmendra fan and says that he has a big fan-following in Pakistan. Nusrat Sahab’s first hindi film “Aur Pyar Ho Gaya” was of Dharmendra. He said he was proud to sit next to a legend like him and it was a dream come true for him.
Dharmendra’s final phone-call gave Amitabh the role of Jai in Sholay
Ramesh Sippy disclosed that it was on Dharmendra’s recommendation and his final phone call that he signed Amitabh for the role of Jai in Sholay.
Sonu too was a Chhota Ustaad too
Dharmendra revealed he first met Sonu at the sets of “Betaab” where Sonu came as a child actor. He played the role of Chhota Sunny Deol in the film.
Dharmendra becomes emotional listening to “Yeh Dosti”
When Chhote Ustaad contestants Rishabh and Moon sang the song “Yeh Dosti”, Dharmendra’s eyes welled up with tears remembering the good old “Sholay days”. He also said that this Jai-Veeru jodi of Rishabh and Moon was different because here Jai is from India and Veeru is from Pakistan.
Dharmendra too was as a Talent hunt contestant
Fitting himself into the shoes of Chhote Ustaads, Dharmendra encouraged them saying that 50 years back , he too came as a talent hunt contestant and won the competition. Inspite of that, he had to put in too much of hard-work to become the superstar he is.
