Aamir Khan posed a very important question this Sunday on Satyamev Jayate asking the audience, “Are we eating Food or Poison?” Discussing the ill-effects of Toxic food, the importance of organic farming and agricultural subsidies was also highlighted. Tune-in to ABP News Live ASAR tonight as Aamir Khan talks about the impact of the Poison on Our Plate.

In this episode, one of the guests on the show Dr ShriGopal Kabra says that the incidences of cancer, particularly in women, and blood cancer in children, have risen drastically due to the rampant use of pesticides in areas such as Punjab. Satyamev Jayate has highlighted many silent issues that were eating up the very foundation of India like pests. Many impact stories have come up for the same.

Haryana's Khap Panchayats have come out in support of Aamir Khan’s plea to oppose the use of pesticides in farming. A group of khap leaders held a meeting at Nidana village of Jind district on Tuesday in this connection. "We plan to go to each village of the state to make farmers aware about the harmful effects of pesticides," said Om Prakash Mann, state head of Sarv Jatiya Khap Mahapanchayat, stated The Times Of India.

We owe a great debt to the farmers and agricultural workers of India for the food we eat. And we need to give farmers all the possible support so that they can shake themselves free of the cycle of pesticides and costly farming methods.

We have the world’s largest livestock population of 250 million, which produces close to 125 million tonnes of cowdung. Using this we can produce enough methane gas to entirely replace LPG and kerosene in cooking, and substitute petrol in transportation. Methane gas can also generate enough electricity to meet all requirements, at least in rural areas. The by-product can serve as excellent organic manure, substituting chemical fertilisers which require LNG as feedstock. The cowdung slurry is avai
