From extremely sensitive issues like female foeticide and child sex abuse to other widespread social evils such as dowry, alcohol abuse and untouchability, the show attempted to bring forth a myriad of issues plaguing our society since time immemorial. There was also enough effort on Aamir Khan’s part to ensure that the issues discussed didn’t lose its importance. Many of the concerns that were discussed during the show were taken up with the relevant authorities as a follow-up measure and there were quite a few instances where action was taken and people attempted to change things for good.
The final episode
The grand finale of Satyamev Jayate discussed the basic principles of our Constitution. Aamir asked the audience, "When India's leaders envisaged building a new nation after independence, the constitution was the foundation stone of this endeavour. We had resolved to establish a sovereign, secular, democratic republic with justice, liberty, equality and fraternity for all. After 65 years of Independence, are we actually living up to those principles?” It was heart-warming to listen to stories of several citizens who truthfully abided by the principles of Constitution in an effort to help others and set great examples.
